Be part of a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to mechanical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve techniques, procedures, and products and technologies. You will design products to meet customer needs, product quality, manufacturability, new product development, prototype builds, testing, and may serve a project manager role for smaller development projects. You will develop the product designs necessary to drive product improvement and will be integral in securing present and future business by consistently meeting or exceeding Voice of Customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Applies engineering principles to analysis for solution of technical issues related to mechanical design and manufacture of Honeywell products.
  • Experience with Component and System Drawings and Models (2D and 3D)
  • Experience with Technical Documentation, Engineering Change Control, and Model Simulation
  • Experience with identifying opportunities to reduce BOM and labor cost of existing products, including BOM scrubbing and Should Cost Analysis
  • Participate in Cost Reduction ideas generation including Kaizen and Lean Events
  • Perform and support feasibility review of new ideas assigned
  • Experience applying advanced design methods and practices to assure high-quality, low-cost solutions.
  • Delivery of Mechanical Designs on time and ensure project schedules meet customer and program requirements 
  • Conduct redesign activities of an existing product to gain more domain knowledge about Fire Business and understand how to implement the FIRE standards requirements with help of both regulatory team and more experienced R&D colleagues
  • Analyze Product Development Needs from a Mechanical Design perspective and recommend solutions
  • Collaborate with other engineering functions, product management, suppliers, plant personnel and other stakeholders to develop and implement low-cost design solutions, methods, and product improvements. 
  • Perform design analysis and Implement engineering changes 
  • Manage and approve component specifications and engineering drawings and release parts and subsystems for production
  • Solve engineering related problems and propose solutions to alternate supplier qualification
  • Develop and execute product development and test programs 
  • Test Plan preparation – prepare the specific Test plan for the project to make sure the alternative component will satisfy all requirements and final product performance meets the specification
  • Total Cost Model preparation and approval – collecting project data such as cost of engineering services, capital investment other services, project length, etc. and define the Return on Investment
  • Component and Product level verification and pre compliance testing – perform all required testing in the laboratory, complete test report, get approval from internal customer


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
  • Master’s degree (preferred but not required)
  • At least 7+ years of experience in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering, and Component Engineering
  • Experience in Engineering Testing
  • Deep Knowledge of Mechanical Design and Components, their parameters and characteristics material specs, GD&T, experience with conditional qualification testing, 3D modeling
  • Experience with CAD tools
  • Experience with UL/CSA/CE standards, statistical methods and tools, MS Office
  • Experience managing projects; Project Management and Communication skills
  • Very good written and spoken English, very good communication and negotiation skills, work in the international team, experience multitasking and prioritizing workload.
